(therapeutic) Shibari

The body is constantly giving information: tightening, softening, leaning in, pulling away, speeding up, holding breath, wanting more space.

Learning to notice those signals can change the quality of a decision before the decision is even made. Embodiment is the practice of becoming more available to that information.

Shibari is about

What happens inside that space is yours to discover.

.

Why Shibari

Shibari begins with rope, but the rope is only the doorway.

As the body is wrapped, supported and held, something can begin to shift. The constant noise of the outside world falls away. You are no longer required to perform, achieve or hold everything together. For a while, you can simply be here — breathing, sensing and allowing yourself to be supported.

For some, surrendering control can feel unfamiliar. Being partially or fully held asks for trust. That is why creating a space from the soma approach where you feel genuinely safe, respected and listened to is at the heart of my work. Nothing is forced. You remain connected to your choices throughout the session, and we work at a pace that feels right for you so you can fully relax.

From the mind into the body

From there, the experience can unfold in many different ways.
You may notice sensations you normally overlook: the texture and pressure of the rope, the warm touch of a hand, sometimes soft and gentle, and sometimes strong and rough, the sound of rope moving across the floor, your breath changing, the rhythm of the music. With the outside world becoming quieter, your senses can become remarkably vivid.
And sometimes, something deeper begins to surface.
Emotion, vulnerability, pleasure, sadness, stillness, excitement, memories or simply a profound sense of presence. There is no particular state you need to reach and nothing you need to make happen. Whatever arises will be met with curiosity and wonder.

A space for transformation

Perhaps the greatest gift is the experience of not having to hold yourself up for a while.
To let your weight be received.
To soften.
To breathe.
To feel your body carrying less of the world.
Many people describe this as a powerful return to themselves — a sense of groundedness and connection that can be difficult to access through the mind alone.
At times, a session becomes deeply quiet and meditative. You are still aware, yet somewhere beyond the usual chatter of thought. At other times it can be intensely alive, intimate, emotional or unexpected.
There is no single way a Shibari session should feel.
The rope creates the container.

Shibari Sessions

Rope is at the centre of the work. But the rope itself is only the gateway. Through being held, suspended, restricted or supported, and sometimes using  more of my modalities and techniques attention can move away from the thinking mind and deeper into the body — into sensations, emotions, patterns and places that words don’t always reach.

My strength is in creating a grounded, steady and deeply held space in which you can explore what arises without needing to force an outcome. Shibari may open the door to emotions, memories, vulnerability, surrender, resistance or arousal — sometimes in ways you didn’t expect. We don’t need to label or judge what appears. We work with what is present, with consent and awareness.

A session can unfold slowly, allowing enough time for the experience to deepen and integrate. Sessions are typically up to 2.5–3 hours, giving space for the rope, the body and whatever emerges to be experienced rather than rushed. The rope is the medium. The deeper work is discovering what happens when you meet yourself from within.

Shibari
 Plays of Polarity

Exploring your edge

Polarity is about exploring the space between opposites — softness and intensity, tenderness and roughness, surrender and resistance, dominance and submission comfort and edge.

In a Shibari session, I use these contrasting qualities intentionally, creating shifts in sensation, atmosphere and emotional experience. One moment may feel slow, gentle sensual or nurturing; another may challenge you, bringing you closer to an edge you might not normally explore. The purpose is not to push you beyond what feels right, but to discover where your boundaries are, explore your desires what happens when you approach them, and how you respond when the experience changes. Within a professional, consensual and carefully held space, the contrast itself can become a powerful way of exploring different parts of yourself — the parts that want to surrender, and the parts that want to feel something a little more sensual and raw.

You can of course mix the loving approach and plays of polarity together to suit your desires.

Some possibilities you can explore:

  • playing with caressing vs scratching your skin
  • pulling on your hair from the base of you neck
  • close intense fysical touch
  • Exploring your darker edges and desire
Yes i want to explore

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during a session?

A session can easily be 2 – 2,5 hours. You need time to to arrive, be present experience and intergrate.
Once you arrived we start an intake where i ask you questions to get to know more about your desires, boundaries, physical health, and past or present trauma to have a clean space to start the session from.

No. You don’t need any previous experience with rope. Sessions can be approached at your own pace, and we will establish what feels appropriate for you before and during the session.

This work is not presented as a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. It is a form of embodied personal development, combining conversation, body awareness, movement, rope and other practices according to what is appropriate for the session.

The body can respond in ways we don’t always anticipate. There is space to notice what arises without needing to force, analyse or continue. You remain involved in deciding what happens next, and we can slow down, pause or stop whenever needed.

Consent is an ongoing part of the work, not something established only at the beginning. We talk about boundaries and expectations beforehand, and you can change your mind, pause or stop at any point.

As the body is wrapped, supported and held, something can begin to shift.

Some things to know

These sessions are not designed to be rushed. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours for the experience, and occasionally a little longer when the work calls for it.

There is time to arrive, settle into the space, connect, explore, and come back down afterwards. The session itself is only one part of the process — your body and nervous system also need time to transition before and after the work.

Investment

I offer both individual sessions and ongoing work. A single session can be meaningful powerful cathartic even, but deeper exploration often develops over time. committing to returning allows you to build familiarity, trust and a better understanding of how your body responds. I prefer to work with you over a longer term so that we can gradually explore deeper.
 The healing begins with repetition

Shibari sessions — €275
Approximately 2.5 hours.

Your investment includes more than the time spent physically in the session. It covers our initial conversation and intake, preparation of the space, the session itself, and the time needed afterwards to close and integrate the experience.

If you’re curious about working together, we can start with a conversation. There is no commitment required — simply an opportunity to see whether the way I work feels right for you.
